I am sorry I haven’t been around for a couple days. It’s been kind of busy here. We’ve been helping family move to their new home. It’s great and they are so excited (it’s their first home) but boy, you don’t realize how many items you have to move and we haven’t done a lot of the work. I’m not looking forward to moving when we do. lol!
I have been playing with some artistic filters lately. I have had some requests for this. I decided it would be fun to make this into an action. This is a very popular thing to do to your images. Here’s a close up of my cute lil man before and after the action ran (except for the blacked out background, I did that myself by putting a new layer above the image, filling it with black and while holding the alt key I clicked on the add layer mask icon at the bottom of the layers palette. I then used a brush with a soft edge (with white & black as my foreground & background colors to erase & paint).

Moving – uuuuughhh!! Our last & hopefully our final move was almost 1 year ago…. from AU to the UK….. and then into our new home in May….
It’s a wonderful way to get rid of stuff one doesn’t need…

Jennifer what version of photoshop do you have cause mine come up with errors, runs but errors on several steps on both of the actions. I have photoshop CS and I am guessing you made the actions with a newer version?
I use CS6. Did you make sure that the background says “Layer 0″ or “Background”? I know that it will cause errors if you don’t do that.The paper action needs to say “Background” and the element needs to say “Layer 0″. Please try that and let me know hun.

hmm maybe I am getting confused, I open a photo and it opens as a locked background automatically. I open my actions panel and run the action. I guess maybe I am confused as neither action makes the background black? I will run them and post a link for you to show you what I get when I run the actions.
