I hope you had a wonderful Saturday. I know I said I would get my house cleaned and play on the computer all before 4. But I have to be real here. It didn’t happen. lol! I had a scary experience today too. While driving home IÂ heard the back door open and realized that my cute lil man had figured out how to get out of his carseat and slipped out. It’s a small car so it wasn’t too far a stretch for him to open the door. Luckily I was able to grab his arm and hold him while I slammed on my brakes. I got out and shut the door and got him securly in his carseat. He kept saying “I’m so sorry. I really am so sorry”. I wasn’t mad, just terrified. I told him “that’s why you need to not get out of your carseat, ok?” he promised (let’s see how long that one goes). I wonder how many years that experience took off my life. lol! Luckily it was a lesson learned without any damage done. That’s the best kind of lesson to learn, the one with no damage done to anyone.

So scary! I know in some cars there is a switch on the back doors, so that they cannot be opened from inside. Might be something to look to see if you have.

Scary! Most cars have a switch that can make the rear doors unable to be opened from the inside – Check to see if yours does!

So glad you were able to safely take care of the little guy in the car. Is his seat in the middle of the back? Some people do that instead of directly behind the driver. It’s more difficult putting them in the sear; however, usually their arms aren’t long enough to open any doors. Don’t like the car locks myself since I would like anyone in the backseat to be able to get out quickly in an emergancy. Hope it scares him as I know it scared a few years off of your life.

Oh Jen, I know your heart was in your throat. Thank heaven your little guy is okay. Does your car have a child safe lock thingy? It’s a pain when you forget to take it off for any adults who might ride in back but what a great safety feature for the little ones. Love the new goodies. Hugs, SherryD

sounds about like my day Jen only I am not out of the woods quite yet, still waiting for email from my main vet. One of my females started to go into labor (was not supposed to be pregnant mind you) around 1pm. Water bag? broke around 4:30/5pm. No progress. Finally around 11 pm could feel a puppy (tail and foot). good could feel something, but didn’t feel quite right. Checked again about 11:20 pm no change, checked again at 11:40 no change. Called local er pet hospital. Guessing if c-section needed would be around $1000 need 50% down up front. Sorry I do not have that much, tried to work something out for payments, nope nadda no go, got pissed and asked the lady how they can live with themselves when they put their pocketbook in front of the welfare of a animal in distress and hung up. called the clinic I usually use after hours number (mind you this clinic is a hour drive away). Same possible out come only total around $300, talk to dad, that is more doable, told him on my way. Single puppy birth, problem was prolapsed uterine horn, took a hour of pushing things back to where it should have been, puppy alive, (black/silver girl shorkie). placed mom and puppy in kennel carrier to let her calm down (wanted to check for heart issue that was found in her sister from the same litter). Did some looking through the books at the clinic. Little to know info, this is not very common in dogs but can happen. Everything was looking fine, he said just keep the horn pushed back in and it should fix itself. Doing research today says different, usually have to go in and fix but been to long so if I have to go in (99.999% sure we will) she will be spayed instead. So now have to descide if I am going to keep the little girl to replace mom or not. would hate to loose mom as a breeder as she is my best one but she is a pet and family house dog first. so monitoring temp and prolapse on a hourly basis. fun fun fun…….. not but you got to do what you got to do.
Oh hun, I’m so sorry. Pets are our children too. I know mine are. I can’t imagine life without them. I will pray for yours!

Hey, Jen! It is great that you were able to catch Lil Man, and stop the car, without an accident!! Those kid proof door locks are wonderful, UNTIL someone needs to get out.
Have you considered boxing gloves for Lil Man? If the Lil fingers can’t get into things, the Lil Man can’t get out of things. LOL
